SRCD Education Program

Living on the Land workshop The RCD is dedicated to educating the public about the natural resources and watersheds of Sonoma County. Through classroom presentations, presentations to community organizations, field trips, workshops, quarterly newsletters and community involvement, the RCD strives to connect people with their watersheds.

RCD resource professionals are available to give educational presentations, tours, and/or workshops pertaining to resource issues of interest in Sonoma County including water quality, soil erosion, weeds, rural roads, wetlands, creek banks, restoration practices, and steelhead and salmon.

Current Programs

  • Profiles in Conservation
    Through this program, the RCD shares the stories of local landowners' exemplary conservation efforts.

  • Outings on Open Space District Properties
    A series of events and outings that highlight the connections between agricultural sustainability in Sonoma County and the work of the District. See Events page for upcoming outings.

  • Living on the Land Workshop Series
    SRCD offers several free landowner workshops annually on a range of natural resource topics.

  • Educational Publications
    SRCD provides education through many of its publications, including newsletters, watershed assessments, a directory of services in the watershed, and resource manuals.
