Sotoyome RCD is making news...
Grape Creek Fish Habitat Improvement Projects
An article published on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, in the Empire News section of the
Press Democrat featured a collaborative restoration project managed by the Sotoyome RCD.
Bob Norberg, staff writer for the Press Democrat, covered the start of construction on a large wood installation to improve coho habitat in
Grape Creek,
a tributary to
Dry Creek.
Many of our partners were there to provide information and to tell the story of this much anticipated event.
Unfortunately, one of our most important partners, the landowner Karl Kowalski, was not mentioned anywhere in the article. We want to emphasize our appreciation and the importance of Karl's participation in this project.
Private landowners like Karl who are willing and interested in restoring coho habitat on their property are vital to the success of the collective effort to bring coho back from the brink of extinction in the Russian River watershed.
