FARMS Leadership Program

The FARMS Leadership Program is an award winning statewide program administered through the Center for Land-Based Learning. The program is designed to serve a diverse group of approximately thirty high school students from five different high schools.

Throughout the course of the school year, the participants attend monthly on-farm workshops and learn-by-doing while engaged in team building and leadership-oriented activities. The program is delivered in eleven locations from northern California to the California-Mexico border, providing students with the basic tools and critical thinking skills necessary to understand the importance of agriculture and the relationship between agriculture and natural resource conservation.

During the program, participants also explore occupation and career opportunities, and complete a community action project.
